Computer Numeric Control, or ‘CNC’ as it is normally referred to, is a relatively new area for Qualitech Machining Services Limited. The fact that this type of machining is state-of-the-art, brought it to our attention. These machines are not only extremely productive, but also very accurate. In instances where a customer requires dozens or hundreds of a particular item, we can deliver in a very short time.
Programming is carried out in house using the latest 3D Graphics software, allowing you to ‘see’ the cutting paths and tooling used, even before the material is loaded onto the machine. Reverse engineering is done using 3D laser scanning technology and an articulated CMM arm.
The company has invested in this world class type of technology for simple reasons – To provide the customer with many options and a comprehensive range of machining alternatives as possible, but more importantly fast delivery and high quality. As the years progress, you can be assured that Qualitech Machining Services Limited will be in the forefront of machining technology.
Our Capabilities
Precision of any manufactured component is a function of the equipment that it is produced on. At QCNC, machining is done through numerical control. A computer programme is customized for an object and the machines are programmed with CNC machining language (called G-code) that essentially controls all features like feed rate, coordination, location and speeds. With CNC machining, the computer can control exact positioning and velocity. CNC machining is used in manufacturing both metal and plastic parts.
Behind our state-of-the-art facilities lies a team of expert technicians and programmers dedicated to manufacturing your critical components cost effectively, with short lead times while exceeding quality requirements. Machines are housed in an air conditioned, dust free environment which is also temperature controlled.
Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
At QCNC we are capable of scanning original parts with 3D laser scanning equipment and producing 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) models in minutes instead of hours.
These CAD models could be inputted into additional Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software which computes the optimal machine tool paths to manufacture parts in the shortest possible time from a wide range of raw material stock. This allows QCNC to reverse engineer a wide variety of industrial spares in extremely short timeframes.
CAD Models can also be used to generate engineering drawings and gives QCNC the ability to virtually modify parts on the computer before they are machined.
Quality Control
All manufactured parts undergo 100% inspection against engineering drawings. This is performed using a combination of a granite surface table, coordinate measuring machine, surface model comparison, digital measuring equipment and other high precision fixtures and measuring instruments in a special Quality Control Room, which is temperature controlled and dust free to guarantee tolerances. All inspected parts carry a certificate of final approval.
Specialist training was required for all users of equipment purchased and was undertaken both overseas and on-site in Trinidad, assuring that optimum results are obtained from both equipment and software.
Original Replacement Spares
At QCNC we can manufacture any ‘original replacement spares’ used by customers, at a fraction of the cost. By using the equipment available, QCNC can produce engineering drawings of sample parts provided by customers, analyze the material composition, hardness values, and other physical properties and write manufacturing programmes for the parts and manufacture them in the shortest time possible.
These programmes are then stored for future manufacturing of the same part whenever required. The next time a similar job is required, it can be made in an even shorter time, since the drawings and programmes are already stored.
